CARTELS FOR STOLEN LAPTOPS REVEALED

A comrade is crying for justice after his laptop was confiscated by police at Eldoret town. The laptop was stolen from his room in H028 on 17th February 2016.
Talking to 3rd Eye journalists, a student who sought anonymity, let’s call him Mr. X from the school of Biological and Physical science expressed his agony since he reported the matter on 18th February to the University’s security office but has being slow in handling the issue.

Yesterday the security had two culprits in their records who are believed to be behind laptops theft saga, including a student named JOHNY ; a key suspect and who is under investigation. The two suspects failed to give clarity on how the laptop was ferried to a buyer in Eldoret town where it has been recovered.
Just before the dust settles, a confirmed source gave a tip off to a cartel of buyers of stolen items in Eldoret’s HILLCOM COMPUTER DEALERS located in KOGO PLAZA, 1ST floor , Uganda road. This may be the place where stolen Moi University laptops are sold.
The student who gave the tip of was once involved in a bitter situation after his stolen laptop was discovered in the same place. The culprit, Obwoge Dennis has been revealed as one who buys stolen laptops from Moi University.
After arriving to the laptop accessories shop, Mr. X just posed as a potential buyer requesting for an Hp laptop with a higher processor than his since he wanted to buy time with the seller as he conducted his investigations. The seller accepted to sell a brand new laptop at KSH 30,000 but he changed the mind and requested for HP 650 RAM 2GB HARD DISC 320 and PROCESSOR 1.8 GHZ just exact details of his lost laptop.
The guy hesitated but later accepted to check whether he had such a model at KSH 25000 , Ksh3000 higher than what he had bought a brand new at. His stolen laptop had been kept in a different hidden place away from the display shelves, something that shows that more stolen laptops are in that shop.
The matter was reported to the police and the guy was arrested since he claimed that the laptop was taken there by unknown person who borrowed KSH 2000 with the laptop as a security. He failed to produce a written document as a sign of agreement between the two. The police released him in a mysterious circumstance claiming that the complainant failed to produce another receipt which indicates the HP serial number regardless of the student having produced the original receipts.
Laptops are stolen daily mostly from hostel K and L but the matter seem to be given black out by the concerned persons. Last year a comrade was found lying helplessly outside equity bank (Town) after being sedated with substances which induces sleep in one of the MU SACCO buses.
