ROBBERY SUSPECT LYNCHED-MOI UNIVERSITY

A suspected thief was yesterday stoned to death by the mob at the Talai Shopping Centre, Stage. The middle aged man is said to be terrorizing the Moi community through stealing from unsuspecting people and pick pocketing.
The deceased is further alleged to have attacked an engineering student with a knife a few days ago before making away with his Jacket and other valuables. Yesterday the student-victim spotted his assailant clad in his jacket around Ngeria residences prompting him to raise alarm which attracted the public.

After unsuccessful attempt to take off, the suspect was caught up with at the busy shopping centre at around 5pm where he was beaten up to death. “Huyu ni mkora sugu ametuhangaisha Talai mzima, Lelmolok na Kesses”, an irate bodaboda operator was overheard saying.

The late has been linked with numerous robbery incidences that have been happening since last year. He is said to be behind a motorcycle theft that happened late last year where it was recovered in Nandi County. The suspect has a track record of reclaiming his freedom from the police custody whenever he is caught.
The police who had been called to calm the situation chose to stay outside the main entrance in fear of reiteration from the angry mob as has been the case in he past, where the police have been engaged in running battles with the students.
The body was collected by the police at around 7:40pm.
The students were however assured to that the suspect had been ferried to Kesses Police Station where he is currently being held awaiting investigations to be concluded.
