STUDENTS CLASH WITH POLICE OVER BLACKOUT

Moi university students yesternight caused havoc around F houses forcing police to use live bullets to disperse them. They had lit a huge fire and threatened to burn one of the houses before police were called. One of the police officers claimed to have run out of bullets as they fired severally in the air to disperse the rowdy students.

The students' president Mr. Mogire said K.P.L.C had been paid close to 11M for the
electricity installation but were slow in the
process. The students' president claimed that he has addressed many pertinent issues but the university has been slow in initiating them thereby students branding him as a non-performer. He added that the Kenya Power Eldoret branch has taken an unusually longer time to install the transformer in F houses and thus gave support to the students since it is their right to access electricity.
One of the officers the 3rd eye identified as "chief" assured students of an immediate installation within 24 hours and urged everyone to remain calm.
